Metamorphosis: Genesis

Following the success of the TPI award-winning ‘Metamorphosis’, the Arcadia team sought to develop an alternative show without using the spider super structure as its stage. A separate show that could be added to existing festival stages, with a smaller footprint, crew, and touring expenditure. Taking the key performance elements  – the Lords Of Lightning, aeriel robotic ‘mini’ spiders, along with choreographed light performers – and bringing it all together in one immersive spectacle.

My roles –
  • Musical director – overseeing all musical aspects, working with creative and technical directors, show producers, and management.
  • Music composer: create an exciting and engaging score that aligned with the narrative concept, drawing the audience and keeping their attention over 20 minutes of show time, elevating the energy from start to finish and ending on a finale to make everyone dance
  • Sound designer – create bespoke sounds to represent many of the visual aspects in the show, from 3-million volt musical tesla coils to live performers manipulating lasers with mirrors
  • Music producer – build the full music track with the intention of it being the centre piece and finale for a festival crowd – using many modern production techniques to achieve a forward thinking, current sound
  • Mix engineer – mix the full composition to be performed on an open air stage to crowds of over 20k people.
